Part of the integrated e-Filing and CPC 2.0 initiative for Faster Refunds and easier access to ITR information, Income Tax Department has announced that it’s new ITR e-Filing Portal is available on June 07th 2021. Though it is not clear whether the department is expected to enable the FY 2020-21 ( AY 2021-22 ) e-Filing immediately after Jun 07th or may take time to enable such functionality?
Today, May 19th, the IT department has released a notification to all it’s field offices and officers to conclude the current work that is scheduled during the downtime of the existing portal for 6 days from Jun 01st to Jun 6th 2021. Also recommended to re-schedule such appointments after Jun10th in case it is not possible to pre-pone.
The department is working for a while to enhance the existing functionalities around IT eFiling Portal towards a new improved e-filing portal that is easier and much secured than the current portal, with an aim towards a role based access and user friendly dashboard style presentation.
The e-Filing portal also expected to provide an easier, wizard based ITR selection and other such features. With pre-validated bank account information and other measures, the department is expected to release the refund using new portal much faster in days rather weeks or months.
